Here's a question. What makes a great forum ? Back in the day (revealing my age here), BBS usage was very popular, followed eventually after a natural progression by forums. There's a lot of press around "are forums dead" based on the inevitable rise of social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter, but in all honesty, I much prefer forums to any social media platform. I tend to find that if I join a forum where people are like minded, share common interests, and treat each other with respect, then I feel more at home in a small group than I would do on social media.
Given the nature of my job and associated experience, I take privacy seriously and I don't think that Facebook et al are doing enough to ensure that an individual's data remains theirs, and not the property of the social media platform to do with as they choose (think Cambridge Analytica) for example.
A community should be niche in my view 😁
