I have a Proboards forum. What I like about it is it's for people who don't have experience with coding. I know some people don't care for these because you do become limited. There's also nothing like owning your own forum. Do any of you have a free forum host, what is it, & what do you like & don't like about it? I'm actually used to Proboards, the style, features, but I do have it in the back of my mind, if my forum expanded, to own my own.
ZandraJoi but I do have it in the back of my mind, if my forum expanded, to own my own.
It is not very difficult to set a forum software. Feel free to post here when you are ready. 👍️
There is no shame in using free forums platform. If you ever need help setting up one of your own, feel free to ask here.
There are at least 3 good and reliable free forums platform. There is one for MyBB which has been around for years now. They have a very good reputation too.
So nice to see you again here @ZandraJoi :happy
Thank you for your reply! It's nice to know I can get some good help when the time comes 🙂
I used Ucoz in the past and now it has become restricted and more paid. Once you get hold of the free software you can test it out and do more if you install and maintain it
I'm not really a fan of free scripts/sites like ProBoards because they usually add a notice in the footer, and generally are quite restrictive on what they permit/allow you to do. Though, I do agree they are great for those with limited forum management experience, or skills for coding/programming: I know scripts like XF are quite code heavy (for things like CSS)
Very few allow free forum hosting with no ads or pay some amount and the ad will be removed. Rest of the sites place banners and earn money from that. (not blaming them though)
