Paid plugins

Are you open to paid plugins while using WordPress ? Did you buy it because you had no choice ? What if there was an open-source plugin for the same feature ?

I would always go for open source plugins if they are available. I do not have any issue about closed license. A developer has right to do whatever he wants to do with his hard work. That said, I would rather use the open source plugin and support the author through a donation.

I would love to contribute too. If not as a donation, by spreading word about the project. The more popular it becomes the more the chance for it to be financially viable and stay open source.

Money is not everything. A good word of appreciation can be priceless. Nothing gives more pleasure when your work is making others happy and feel good.
