Your thoughts on .xyz domains

I see that .xyz cost is very less, hardly 2 dollars. What is your thought on this. Extensions are being for spamming?

Somehow the providers thought of selling one cheap, which was misused. It will be same if you sell .com at $2.

There was a free domain service before. Google blacklisted it due to widespread misuse. The same thing is happening with .xyz domains.

So going with a .xyz domain is not a wise choice as of now right?

Not at all. Stay away from it as much as you can. I am more or less sure that not just Google, anti virus apps too will mark such URL as unsafe considering the phishers are widely making use of it.

I will buy it only if I am compelled. ie, close to zero money.

Bad bad idea. It was a boon when launched. A lot of people misused it to the level that it is no longer a valid choice.

As already mentioned, steer clear. I wouldn't touch a website using that extension, or .biz for that fact, with a barge pole
