What is your opinion about using gradients in web projects ? Do you think it is the new trend ? Sometimes I feel it is overused these days. A lot of websites use gradients either in bar elements and backgrounds for better appeal.
Abhi gradients are very 90's. These days, people expect to find simple flat GUI designs. Poorly placed gradients can make your site look like a kaleidoscope which is very off putting to potential visitors.
I tried using one here. But it looked ugly compared to what we have here. I like the current colour scheme. So I thought not to break unless there is a good reason to do.
There are websites like CSS Tricks and so on where they write extensively on using linear gradients. They not only write about them, but use it well on their website.
It can go wrong in some cases 😄
Do you like Blue - Green ? Maybe you will like it. Most popular is purple with orange. Sometimes they use purple + dark blue. I see them a lot in newspaper ads and print media as well.

I think the flat colour scheme is slowing being deprecated. I am not a pro but I see a good no. of website use 2 point or 3 point gradients. Mainly through CSS. it is not in the mainstream yet. Mostly by people who want to be different.

In newspaper and print media, I see a lot of ads with gradient backgrounds. Why it is not everywhere, those who do are standing out. Gradients were not so popular like this before.
It is there in Samsung Galaxy Store app, a few other apps and some default mobile wallpapers.
Book covers are also taken. Now that I have this in mind, I see a lot of people opting gradients.
Firefox icon is a gradient based one. Their other icons too have gradients in stroke.
