Recently, I see a lot of feature promos by Invision Power. And some of them looks good as well. Do you think that it is a good thing to do feature promos of software ?
They are very closed source when it comes to community interaction. Look at Xenforo, whatever drawbacks they have, they listen to people. I am not saying Invision doesn't. But it is a lot more comfortable on Xenforo support forum than Invision Power support site.
They have a fan base and customer base they can rely on. Personally, I do not want a software to have monopoly in market. There is Xenforo and now there is IPB. It gives us choice.
I haven't checked out the features recently. I use MyBB and i don't follow what these paid software do. But Xenforo forum has good user base and many are helpful.

Have you tried Flarum ? How do you feel about it ?
I am a member of a forum which uses Flarum, i liked it very much. But as an Admin i haven't worked on it so no idea.
I like it when more features are in the core. Plugins can be messy.
That said, Xenforo do not advertise much on social media. Perhaps they do not have a social marketing team, or they do not need it 😃
