Do you think that a blog post is well composed when compared to a forum thread ? It is neatly structured, planned and formatted. Forum threads are very crude Q&A for a reader.
+1 for blog post. Most of them are well research and in good blogs, written by experts. There no need for you to try 12 pages to get an information. Half the page will give you more than enough in a blog. But yes, how many people can you hire ?

In case there is a doubt, a good forum discussion would have more info than a blog. The chance is almost 70-80 %. That is how I have felt between blogs and some Q&A forums while searching for answers.
